US to exceed their EU beef quota, expansion likely

US beef exports to the EU are expected to exceed their 11,500-tonne quota, according to US Meat Export Federation (USMEF).

Rising EU meat demand and the weak dollar are pushing US meat exports to the region.

Meanwhile, it looks increasingly likely that the US push to expand quotas would be approved by the EU.

The increase can be largely attributed to the growing beef deficit in Europe, due to high per capita beef consumption and declining domestic production.
