West Liberty Foods breaks ground on Utah plant

West Liberty Foods, L.L.C., a leading co-packer and manufacturer of sliced, processed meat and poultry products, has started on the construction of their fourth facility in Tremonton, Utah.

This complex will consist of a 93,000 square feet fabrication facility and a 74,000 square feet slice facility.  At full capacity, the plant will be able to further process more than 100 million pounds of protein products a year, in addition to 36 million pounds of chicken.

The facility would not be conducting slaughtering operations.

West Liberty Foods has also built an adjacent 50,000 square feet cold storage warehouse in conjunction with Millard Refrigerated Services of Omaha, Nebraska with refrigerated and frozen capacities.

Ed Garrett, President and CEO, said the ready-to-eat chicken line would provide the opportunity to introduce and service new product lines.

Headquartered in West Liberty, Iowa, the company has manufacturing facilities in West Liberty, Mount Pleasant and Sigourney, Iowa.
