Market analysis

Prices of imported lysine surged due to the recent depreciation of renminbi, prompting local producers to lift prices as well. Moreover, one producer halted operation after mid-October for two weeks, hence limiting the supplies lysine.

In Europe, price quotes for Q4 deliveries slid to the range of EUR1.20-1.21/kg. For spot deliveries, prices were mainly in the range of EUR1.25-1.27/kg.

Market forecast

Prices of imported products are seen stable to higher with renminbi showing no signs of stabilising. Local producers will take the opportunity to hold up the prices of lysine in order to maximise profits. However, with feed demand slack and the capacity of lysine industry high, the upward scope of the market will be limited.
