Vietnam's 2012 southern fish crop increases 4.3% on-year
Vietnam's southern fish crop in 2012 of 28 provinces and cities has reached nearly 1,551,800 tonnes, increasing 4.3% on-year.
This is according to Hoang Dinh Yen, Deputy Director of the Department of Aquatic Resource Exploitation and Protection under the Vietnam General Department of Fisheries. Particularly, the output of aquatic exploitation at the southern fish crop has reached 1,425,600 tonnes.
The southern fish crop in 2012 has taken place in the difficult situations due to irregular changes of the weather, highly increased oil prices, affecting aquatic exploitation, quality and selling prices despite increased output; limited forecast, etc. However, in general, it has gained satisfactory results.
As estimated, the aquatic output exploited in the 2012-13 northern fish crop will reach about 1,120,000 tonnes, including 1,070,000 tonnes of aquatic products exploited at sea and 50,000 tonnes of aquatic products exploited in land.
