US Cargill Ohio facility installs new grain receiving pit

Cargill is enhancing its Bloomingburg, Ohio, grain operations in the US through the  creation of a third truck receiving pit to complement the facility's existing rail and truck unload capabilities, the company announced on October 20.

The investment will increase Cargill's grain unloading capacity during peak times by 64%, and is expected to be ready for deliveries by November 15.

"We are pleased to invest in solutions that benefit our producer customers," said Bill Tom, regional farm service group leader for Cargill AgHorizons.

"The additional truck receiving pit will allow for greater service and flexibility for our customers at peak capacity, offering faster grain unloading capabilities during their busiest time of the year. It also enhances our capabilities in continuously supplying feedstock to the ethanol production facility adjacent to our elevator," he said.

Cargill is the exclusive supplier of corn to the Bloomingburg ethanol facility owned by Valero Renewable Fuels Company LLC, a 110-million gallons per-year producer of ethanol.

In the region, Cargill operates grain elevators year-round in Bloomingburg, Cincinnati, Circleville, and Lima, Ohio, as well as in Boston, Indiana, US.
