Construction of biggest integrated pig farm begins in China's Hunan
Construction of the largest integrated pig farm in China's Hunan began on Tuesday (Oct 23). The farm and other production facilities, which are located in Hengyang and Hengshan, is a joint-project by Hengyang authorities and Britain's PIC, an international supplier of genetically superior pig breeding stock.
RMB800 million will be invested in this project. PIC will supply the breed stock and through cross-breeding with native stocks, the farm will be able to produce 16,000 heads of superior breeding pigs annually.
Besides pig production, this farm will also be capable of generating biogas from pigs' manure. The residues from biogas and thermal power generation will be used in the production of compound fertilizer.
Once completed, the entire production chain is expected to generate RMB2 billion in annual revenue.
