Brazil's soy export to China tops 28.6 million tonnes
Brazil's soy exports to China rose 4% to 28.65 million tonnes from January to September compared with the same period of 2013, according to official figures released Wednesday in Beijing.
Figures from China's customs service indicate that in the first seven months of the year, Brazil was the main supplier of soy, followed by the United States with 17.3 million tonnes.
In September, China, the world's largest soy buyer, recorded landings of 3.37 million tonnes from Brazil, 7.6% less in annual terms, of a total of about 5 million tonnes.
In cumulative terms, total imports from China were 52.74 million tonnes of soy, an increase of 15.3%.
