Estonia's pork and beef purchase prices moved up in September both in on-year and on-month comparison while mutton and goat meat became cheaper.
According to figures released by Statistics Estonia, a kilogramme of pork cost on the average EUR1.83 (US$2.38) in September, 4% more than in August and 9% more than in September 2011.
The average purchase price of beef climbed 12.5% in annual comparison and 2.4% on-month to EUR2.16 (US$2.80) per kilogramme.
The purchase price of mutton and goat meat was EUR2.43 (US$3.16) per kilogramme, down 9% on-year and 15% compared to August.
Meat handlers bought 30,300 pigs, 2,700 heads of cattle and 500 sheep and goats during the month, compared with respectively 28,300, 3,000 and 500 a year ago.
