BRF appoints Sergio Fonseca as new CEO for Brazil market
Fonseca will report directly to Global CEO, Claudio Galeazzi.
Previously a production engineer, Fonseca was the vice - president of Sadia Internal Market until July 2009, before his most recent role as a consultant. He had also worked at La Source and Metallurgical Society of Souza Cruz Cigarettes.
Fonseca went on to join Martins Trade and Distribution Services where he remained for 16 years in sales planning and as general director of the business unit for retail food.
A graduate from the Polytechnic School of USP, Brazil, Fonseca studied strategic management marketing, and sales and strategic sales management at the University of California ,US. He also attended an advanced management programme at Fundação Dom Cabral and FDC / Insead, France.
Alcione Santin and Sidney Manzaro, both BRF's national directors of retail sales, will report to Fonseca.
Fonseca's appointment is part of the organisation's continual process of reviewing its management structure which started in August 2013. Based on the current structure, CEO positions for the international and Brazilian market have been developed to respond accordingly to specific regions, both local and foreign.
The activation of BRF's new business format in Brazil will also lead to the termination of the vice president of commercial and retail position. As a result, Luiz Lissoni, the current VP, will leave the company.
