Vietnamese fish farmers to adopt VietGAP standards
Vietnamese fish farmers will soon be required to adopt the mandatory Vietnamese Good Agriculture Practice (VietGAP) standards in their farming process, with the standards to be rolled out for pangasius farming and processing in 2015, followed by other species.
The announcement was made by Pham Anh Tuan, deputy general director of the Directorate of Fisheries (D-Fish), during a workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City.
In order to encourage farmers and enterprises to apply the standards in their production and boost sales of VietGAP-certified products, D-Fish will introduce VietGAP to major domestic and foreign distributors.
D-Fish also seeks to raise awareness of producers, distributors and consumers on the advantages of VietGAP certified products.
