EU approves import of Syngenta's GMO corn
The import of a variety of genetically modified corn produced by Syngenta for use in food and animal feed has been approved by the EU.
The approval of Syngenta's MIR 162 variety clears the way for an increase in EU corn imports from Brazil, as the bloc seeks alternative sources of animal feed following a drought-affected corn harvest in central and southern Europe.
