Weak trend prevails in China vitamin C market

Prices of vitamin C were unchanged during the week ended October 21.

Demand for vitamin C remained slack as the aquaculture reduced usages while the livestock sectors limited procurements amid bleak outlook. At current price levels, most vitamin C producers are incurring losses.

Prices of feed- and food-grade vitamin C were mainly at RMB24/kg.

The excess output of vitamin C in China will hold prices low together with lacklustre demand. However, prices are unlikely to drop prominently as producers are making losses.
