Brazil's beef sector gets more halal certification
Brazil's beef sector is receiving more halal certification, which would help strengthen their market presence and share in Muslim countries.
Over 300 Brazilian companies have received halal certification, which guarantees that food is produced according to the regulations of Islamic law and so is allowed for consumption by around 1.3 billion Muslims worldwide.
About 90 percent of Brazilian companies are currently getting ready to receive the halal certification, said Ali Saifi, vice president of the Centre for Promotion of Islam to Latin America (CDIAL).
