Argentina Jan-Sept poultry exports up 26 percent on-year

Argentina's poultry exports from January through September 2007 totalled 103,462 tonnes, a 26 percent increase from the same period a year earlier, the animal-and-food-inspection agency, Senasa, reported Monday (October 22).

The value of poultry exports from January to September were up 48 percent from the same period in 2006, totalling US$129 million, Senasa said.

The principal markets for Argentina's fresh poultry exports were Chile and South Africa. Subproduct exports, including wings, feet and innards, were purchased mainly by China and Hong Kong. Germany and Holland were the primary destinations for Argentine processed poultry exports, according to Senasa.
