Oregano supplement for pigs and poultry to be marketed in the UK
Ropapharm International in the Netherlands has announced a new feed supplement based on oregano for the pig and poultry market in the UK
To be marketed by GE Baker in the UK, Ropadiar, can be used in pigs and poultry as an appetiser and flavouring agent.
The company said its product would boost feed intake, particularly among weaners and growing pigs as well as broilers.
Improved performance has also been recorded in egg layers.
The additive contains oregano oils extracted from specially selected plants which are said to contain antibacterial, antifungal, anti-parasitic and anti-oxidative properties.
The company said it also has a positive effect on the immune system.
Available in 25 kg bags and 7.5 kg tubs, it is added to diets at between 150g and 500g per tonne. Being an all-natural product, no withdrawal time would be necessary.
