Greenpeace targets Australian dairy giant over GM crops
Environmentalist group Greenpeace are rallying against a major milk processor in Melbourne for its support of genetically modified crops.
Murray Goulburn, produces milk, butter and cheese, and is one of the largest processors in Australia.
Earlier this year the dairy industry has expressed support for GM crops, reversing its previous position against the use of transgenic crops on its products.
Louise Sales from Greenpeace says the protest at Murray Goulburn's headquarters is an attempt to secure a meeting with management.
According to Sales, opinion polls consistently show that and Murray Goulburn should "respect the wishes of its consumers and keeping its Devondale products GE free, and supporting the extension of the food crop bans."
Murray Goulburn has not been available for comment.
