Estonian farmers open new grain terminal

Estonian farmers, together with the efforts of farmer society, Kevili, have opened a Roodevälja-based grain terminal in Lääne-Virumaa, Estonia, the largest of its kind.

With the first stage of development completed, the terminal can handle 60,000 tonnes of grain in a season.

The terminal, which also includes a lab, can receive 500 tonnes of grain hourly, with grain tests being conducted in 10 seconds.

Construction works lasted for a year at a cost of US$11 million. The technological solution formed US$4.8 million of the budget. Members of Kevil helped to fund the buidling of the terminal.

Construction of a bulk goods warehouse had also commenced following the opening. Preparations are under way for the expansion of the terminal to increase production capacity.
