Argentina's National Health and Food Quality service (SENASA) will be opening mobile slaughter plants for small producers and family farmers.

The mobile facilities will be set up at fixed points in different areas of the country, offering the slaughter service to producers in areas where the infrastructure does not support accessible slaughter facilities.

Senasa said that the move will allow producers in the locality to slaughter animals in sanitary conditions for local supply with no cost.

Senasa said it is bringing a solution for family farmers, who are far from abattoirs, and it will also strengthen control measures for zoonotic diseases, such as trichinosis.

Senasa added that the measure will also help family farmers gain access to marketing channels with quality and safe products.

The units will be supervised by Senasa staff and will have no operation costs for the producer.
