South Africa 2009-10 corn yield rises to 10.937 million tonnes
South Africa delivered 21,000 tonnes of corn to silos last week, from 23,000 tonnes the previous week, the South African Grain Information Service showed in its weekly harvest report Wednesday (October 21).
The crop consists of 16,000 tonnes of white corn and 5,000 tonnes of yellow corn.
A total 10.937 million tonnes have been harvested and delivered since the beginning of the season.
Harvesting usually starts from about April to early August, with the key harvest months being June and July.
South Africa's final summer corn production forecast was increased 56,950 tonnes, or 0.49 percent, to 11.741 million tonnes from the previous 11.684 million tonnes, as reported by the Crop Estimates Committee.
