UK pork consumption growing
UK pork consumption is growing, as sales of bacon, fresh pork and sausages continue to move up the charts, according to new figures by BPEX.
The figures show that bacon purchases increased 7.9 percent, fresh pork up 5.3 percent and sausages rose two percent.
This growth comes at a time when red meat are losing sales, said BPEX head of marketing Chris Lamb.
The figures also showed that during the four-week period ended on October 4, twice as many households bought bacon than fresh chicken breasts, while one and a half times more bought sausages.
