US corn export orders to China reach 1.2 million tonnes in October 2013

China has acquired around 1.2 million tonnes of US corn this month, with shipments due to arrive in the country during March-June 2014.

This is according to industry consultancy, Shanghai JC Intelligence.

JCI said that though it is still unclear if all the shipments will meet China's quota restrictions, it will allow 7.2 million tonnes of corn imports annually.

China imported 1.6 million tonnes of corn in the first eight months of this year, 94% of which came from the US, according to Chinese customs data.
