Ukraine's pig population increased 0.8 percent or 59,700 heads from July to 7.385 million heads during August, according to the State Statistics Committee.

Pig population in private farms grew by 0.4 percent or 17,400 heads to 4.186 million heads, and by 1.3 percent or 42,300 heads to 3.2 million heads in specialised farms, compared to July.

The pig population rose by 7.5 percent or 512,900 heads against September 1, 2008.
