International Poultry Expo will be loaded with opportunities

Plans are underway for the 2006 International Poultry Expo, coming January 25-27 to the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) in Atlanta, US. Acknowledged as the world's largest trade show for the poultry industry, this annual event would be full of exciting new products and services, cutting-edge educational programmes, extensive networking opportunities and a variety of social activities.

The halls would bustle with activity, as nearly 800 exhibitors would display thousands of specialised and innovative products and services for nearly 18,000 attendees. Every segment of the industry would be represented: feed milling, hatchery, live production, marketing, processing, further processing, and all support activities.

The educational programmes would address your concerns as a poultry industry leader. Topics would include: Animal Welfare in the Poultry Industry; the Salmonella Challenge in Poultry Processing; the Future of Worker Availability; Antibiotic Use in Poultry; Air Consent Agreement...What's Next?; Crisis Management; and Regulatory Issues in the Poultry Industry. In addition, the InfoMart Theater would spotlight exhibitors who could provide updates on the latest technologies for processing, production, food safety and the environment.

A free export seminar would be held Tuesday, January 24, prior to the opening of the IPE. This programme would assist companies that want to boost their bottom lines by expanding globally. The American Feed Industry Association would also sponsor a free seminar on Improving Feed Mill Efficiency.

The International Guests Center would provide a central location for guests to take a break from the hustle and bustle on the show floor. The center would house the Latin American Poultry Hall of Fame. International guests would be treated to a welcome reception after the show closes on Wednesday.

The spouse/companion programme would include a visit to the Atlanta History Center. The US$49 fee would include admission, lunch and transportation. Participants would tour Swan House, a beautifully restored mansion that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and Tullie Smith Farm, where costumed interpreters would perform everyday activities typical of 19th century rural Georgia. Visitors would have time for a look at one or more of the center's signature exhibitions.

To expand networking opportunities outside show hours, USPOULTRY has lined up discount tickets for games of the Atlanta Thrashers and the Atlanta Hawks.

Do not worry about staying in touch with the office while you are in Atlanta. The free Cyber Centers would provide you access to the internet and a means for locating the exhibitors who could service your specific needs. Commuting between the GWCC and your hotel would be easy. Just take one of the free shuttles that operate throughout the day.

If you pre-register by January 6, the fee is only US$30. On-site registration is US$50. Downloadable registration materials and online registration are available by accessing www.ipe06.org

Funds raised at the IPE would be funneled back into the poultry industry in the form of research grants, educational programmes, communications materials, and promotional activities.
