Romania will export corn of over EUR360 million (US$496.57 million) and wheat of over EUR420 million (US$579.47 million), according to data presented by the Ministry of Agriculture.

"Romania will export cereals this year. I think over four million tonnes will be exported, namely, two million tonnes of wheat and over two million tonnes of corn. It is a good crop", said Agriculture Minister Valeriu Tabara.

He added prices on the global market are set at almost EUR180 (US$248.34) per tonne of wheat fodder and same as per tonne of corn.

According to data from the Agriculture Ministry, Romania's wheat output totalled 5.2 million tonnes in 2009. Romania imported 628,000 tonnes of wheat and exported 2.3 million tonnes, with exports amounting to EUR302.9 million (US$417.8 million).

Of last year's corn output of eight million tonnes, 1.7 million tonnes were exported and revenues reached EUR252 million (US$347.59 million).

The minister also said Romania will also export barley and rapeseed.
