Ukrainian pig count goes up to eight million heads

 
 

The pig population of Ukraine rose by 0.7% or 54,500 heads in August, compared with July, to 8.429 million heads as of September 1, 2010, the State Statistics Committee has reported.

 

Pig population grew by 0.03% or 1,500 heads compared with July, to 4,783,700 heads in private farms, and by 1.5% or 53,000 heads to 3,644,900 heads in specialised farms.

 

The pig population rose by 12.3% or 921,300 heads against September 1, 2009.

 

Specifically, pig population grew by 13.9% or 445,400 heads in specialised farms, and by 11% or 475,900 heads in private farms.

 

Earlier in July, the pig population went up by 0.7% or 60,300 heads compared with June, to 8,374,100 heads as of August 1, 2010.
