A Jiangsu-based agro-business has exported two batches to the US.

The Taihu Zoology Agriculture Developing Company on Oct 10 and Oct 13, exported two batches of live freshwater crab to the US. Named "Taihu", the crabs, which were sent in two batches on the two days, totalled 100 kilogrammes at a US$2,500 value.

In recent years, the Taihu live freshwater crab has been given the "green food" label in Jiangsu. It was also honoured as one of ten famous crab species in China, during the country's first ever crab festival in 2004.
