Agtech products receive certification for organic and all natural production

Agtech Products, a leader in agricultural biotechnology, announced the OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) certification of poultry products.

Agtech Products' new Avicorr line of products have been certified by OMRI for use in "Organic" and "All Natural" poultry production.

The continued growth of the organic and all natural market sector created a new demand for products that aid poultry grown in this manner. Agtech provides natural microbial products for all stages of poultry production and the certification further strengthened its position.

There has been an increase in demand for poultry produced in this manner, said Dr Dan Karunakaran, director of Poultry Technical Services at Agtech. However, he pointed out its success would depend on farmers being provided with the right tools.

The Avicorr product line consisted of three different products for all stages of production. While Avicorr Feed Additive and Avicorr Water Soluble were microbial feed/water additives meant for specific requirements of the turkey and chicken producers, Avicorr Coloniser, a microbial additive provided specific strains of bacteria to re-colonise the digestive tract in younger birds.

The aim behind developing such products was to help the industry in overcoming production challenges while maintaining the National Organic Programme standards.
