US 2004 Pork Exports Project At 769,000 MT, Imports At 624,000 MT
The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected Friday, U.S. exports of pork in 2004 would increase 0.9% to 769,000 tons and imports would increase 10.1% to 624,000 tons.
MAJOR EXPORTERS:
European Union, the world's largest exporter of pork, is expected to lower exports by 4.0% to .96 million metric tons in 2004.
Canada export projections for pork in 2004 are up 0.5% to 980,000 metric tons.
USDA predicts Brazil will increase exports of pork by 4.8% to 650,000 metric tons.
MAJOR IMPORTERS:
Japan, the world's leading importer of pork, is estimated to decreased by 0.0% to 1.15 million metric tons in 2004.
