Kazakhstan likely to export seven million tonnes grain in 2012-13

In the 2012-13 marketing year (July 1-June 30), Kazakhstan estimates it will export seven million tonnes of grain.

This is according to Novosti-Kazakhstan, quoting Nurlan Tleubayev, president of the country's Grain Union, at an October 16 cabinet session.

The 2012 harvest will be about 12 million tonnes, Agriculture Ministry Executive Secretary Yevgeny Aman said.

Kazakhstan should expect a price of about KZT42,200 (US$280) per tonne during the marketing year, Tleubayev said.

In 2011, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tonnes of grain, but a severe drought decimated this year's crop.
