Brazil's 2007 chicken production to increase 8 percent if pace maintained

Brazil may see an 8-percent increase in production compared to 2006, if the current pace is maintained, according to figures from Brazil's Association of Poultry Producers (Apinco).

The average monthly production so far this year stands at 842,200 tonnes.

If this pace is maintained, Brazil's chicken production would reach 10.1 million tonnes, an-8 percent increase in chicken production this year compared to the last.

In the 12 months ended September 2007, the country's chicken output increased by 6.0 percent on-year to 9.455 million tonnes.

Chicken production in the first nine months of the year was 7.58 million tonnes, up 9.64 percent on-year.

Brazilian chicken meat output totalled 866,903 tonnes in September 2007, up 11.5 percent on-year.  However, this increase was due to a low base in September 2006.

Compared to the month before, chicken exports for September 2007 was lower due to the higher number of working days in August.
