Kazakhstan's rapeseed gross yields increased twice
Kazakhstan's gross yield of rapeseeds in the current year increased twice due to the extension of the sowing areas, according to the agriculture ministry.
According to Anna Buts, the ministry's director, Kazakhstan harvested 336,000 tonnes of oilseeds crops, including 88,000 tonnes of sunflower seeds, 45,000 tonnes of safflower, 70,000 tonnes of soy and 122.000 tonnes of rapeseeds.
Buts added that this year the harvest of rapeseeds increased twice as compared to the last year - on October 18, 2006, the harvest of rapeseeds totalled about 61,000 tonnes.
Enterprises harvested about 59 percent of the total area under oilseeds.
