Russian grain exports at 1.4 million tonnes in September
Russia exported 1.41 million tonnes of grain, up 1.8 percent from August index and down 16.8 percent from a year ago, according to customs data in September 2006.
Total grain export in Russia during three months (July-September) of 2006/07 marketing year was 3.5 million tonnes, down 17.1 percent from the analogous period of 2005/06 marketing year.
Russian wheat export totalled 1.37 million tonnes in September 2006, up 11.8 percent from the previous month and down 1.01 percent than a year ago. Main buyers included India (486.200 tonnes), Egypt (239.400 tonnes), Georgia (108.000 tonnes), Yemen (80.500 tonnes) and Bangladesh (75.800 tonnes).
The average export price for wheat totalled US$141 /tonne in September. Total wheat export was 3.2 million tonnes during July-August 2006/07, down 10.6 percent from the analogous period of 2005/06. In September 2006, Russia imported 71,200 tonnes of wheat. The main volume (70,900 tonnes) was imported from Kazakhstan a month before. Total wheat import for three months totalled 242,000 tonnes.
Barley export totalled 38,400 tonnes in September, down four times from August and 4.4 times from September 2005 with major buyers being Israel (14,300 tonnes), Italy (9,400 tonnes) and Georgia (3,400 tonnes).
