Indonesia's poultry demand to augment 12% in 2013

 
 

Indonesia's poultry demand is expected to rise continually by 10%-12% for 2013.

 

"The low per capita consumption of poultry provides plenty potential for growth especially when chicken is the cheapest source of meat protein."  He remarked that "price risk is shifting from farmer to integrator with the latter raising productivity by upgrading the technology and skill sets of farmers," Dr Desianto B. Utomo, Secretary General, Indonesian Feed Mills Association said.

 

However, he noted the following challenges for the industry: availability and price volatility of feed ingredients, threat of bird flu, financing of working capital, insufficient supply of infrastructure, availability of land and inconsistent policies as a result of regional autonomy.
