Ukraine's sees more industrialization of poultry sector
Ukraine's poultry sector is seeing a rise in poultry numbers from industrialised farm and decline in the private farms.
On the year-to-date basis industrialised poultry population rose by 9.9 percent (7.250 million heads) while that in private farms fell by 5.7 percent (7.045 million heads) compared to the same period last year.
In September, Ukraine's poultry population fell 4.654 million heads or 2.3-percent from August, to 196.748 million heads as of October 1.
The drop was due to a 4.9 percent drop in private farms. Poultry private farms fell by 6 million heads whereas poultry numbers in industrialised farms rose by 1.356 million heads, or 1.7 percent.
In comparison with the same time last year, poultry population rose by 0.1 percent or 204,000 heads, Ukrainian News learned from the State Statistics Committee.
Meanwhile the country's September pig population was down by 0.4 percent to 8.25 million head.
On a month to month basis, September's pig population in private farms was down 0.1 percent to 5 million heads in private farms while in industrialised farms, the population fell 0.7 percent to 3.25 million heads.
For October 1, 2007, the pig population was up 2 percent or 162,200 heads, compared to the same time last year.
On-year, pig population rose by 1.4 percent in industrialised farms, and 2.4 percent in private farms.
