Russia bans pork and poultry imports from 28 US companies

The Russian Federal Service for Veterinary and Plant Control has banned meat imports from 28 US companies, the agency's press service said on Wednesday (17 October).

Seventeen poultry-processing and five poultry cold storage facilities as well as seven pork-processing facilities and one pork cold storage facility have been removed from the list of the US processing and refrigerating companies authorised to export meat products to Russia.

The ban takes effect on 1 November 2007.
