US aids Indonesia with US$3.15 million against bird flu
The US has allocated about US$3.15 million to help Indonesia tackle its bird flu cases, announced US Secretary of Health and Community Services Mike Leavitt in Indonesia on Oct 17.
This amount will come from the US$25-million assistance fund that the US has earlier set aside to fight the bird flu in Asia.
Assistance would also come in the form of an early warning system of the bird flu virus, increased surveillance, training of health personnel, and dissemination of information to the public on the H5NI virus.
