Hong Kong bans import of Australian chicken, eggs
Due to an outbreak of highly pathogenic H7 avian influenza at a poultry farm in New South Wales, Australia, Hong Kong has banned imports of chicken and eggs from the state of New South Wales.
The Centre for Food Safety imposed the ban based on information from the World Organisation for Animal Health.
A spokesman said 4,600 tonnes of frozen and chilled poultry meat and 500,000 poultry eggs from Australia were imported into Hong Kong last year.
