Ukraine's cattle, swine numbers down; poultry, sheep and goats up
The number of cattle in Ukraine on Oct. 1 totalled 5.798 million, a fall of 8.7 percent compared with the year-earlier date, reported the state statistics committee Friday.
The total number of cattle included 3.049 million cows, a fall of 6.4 percent compared with the year earlier.
The number of pigs in the country on the date totalled 6.942 million, 14 percent less than a year ago.
The number of poultry totalled 206.9 million, 5.2 percent more than on Oct. 1, 2007.
The number of sheep and goats in the country was 1.926 million, up 1.4 percent on the year earlier.
