Brazil 2007/08 soy area may hit 22.14 million hectares, up 7 percent
Brazil soy-planted area for 2007/08 will total 22.142 million hectares, up 7 percent on 2006/07, consulting firm AgraFNP said Monday (October 16).
The firm's most conservative forecast, with an average yield of 2,600 kilograms per hectare, is that the 2007/08 soy crop will total 59 million tonnes.
The firm said what most concerns producers and what could influence yields is La Niña or extreme rains.
