Yurun's hog plant in China's Hubei to start production in November

One of the biggest hog slaughter-cum-pork processing plants to be located in the north-western part of Hubei province will commence production on November 28.

Owned by the Nanjing-based Yurun Group, the plant has an annual slaughtering capacity of 1.2 million heads of hog. Construction of the RMB150-million plant, which is located in the city of Xiangpan, began in October last year.

Market participants said the plant operation will be positive for the development of the Xiangpan region. Besides stimulating demand for hog feed, the food packaging and logistics industry in Xiangpan will also receive a boost. In addition, about 500 new jobs will be created.
