US cattle group fails to get Canadian beef case re-heard
US cattle group R-CALF has failed to get its case against Canadian beef imports re-heard.
In July this year, the US border re-opened to Canadian cattle even as R-CALF argued that the BSE contamination risk from Canadian imports was too great to be ignored.
However, R-CALF lost its first case then and again on Oct 14, in San Francisco.
However, the group said that it would continue fighting the case to "to protect the US cattle industry and US consumers from the unnecessary and avoidable disease risks associated with the Canadian cattle herd".
