Pa'auilo Slaughterhouse to begin renovations for facility

Backed by US$4 million of state funds, Pa'auilo Slaughterhouse, based in Hawaii, US, will commence facility renovations this week.

The project will increase capacity by 40% at the facility on the Hamakua Coast and ease a processing backlog that makes it difficult for ranchers to market their cattle.

Improvements will affect wastewater disposal, rendering capabilities and refrigeration space.

The Pa'auilo Slaughterhouse is owned by the state and leased to Hawaii Beef Producers. It is one of two USDA-certified slaughterhouses on Hawaii Island.
