Ukraine harvests 37.58 million tonnes grain
 

 

As of October 12, 2012, Ukraine harvested 37.58 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops from 12.97 million hectares (87% of the target), with the yield being 29 centners per hectare.

 

According to the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry, on the same date in 2011, farmers harvested 44.4 million tonnes of grain from 13.32 million hectares, with the yield being 33.3 centners per hectare (c/ha).

 

"The harvesting of buckwheat and millet has been completed. Farmers threshed 11.37 million tonnes of corn from an area of 2.72 million hectares (62%), with the yield being 41.7 c/ha, as well as 7.37 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from an area of 4.49 million hectares (93%), with the yield being 16.4 c/ha," reads the statement.

 

As of October 12, farmers sowed winter crops on an area of 7.03 million hectares (86%). In particular, winter wheat was sown on 6.05 million hectares (91%), winter barley - on 678,400 hectares (54%), and winter rye - on 297,000 hectares (97%).
