China soy imports likely to decline in October

China's October soy imports will likely decline to 2.01 million tonnes, according to the latest report by the Ministry of Commerce.

The volume would be the lowest monthly imports in two years.

The country imported 2.75 million tonnes of soy last month, down 33 percent from a year ago and was the lowest monthly volume so far this year.

The estimate, which was published on the ministry's Web site, was based on importers' reports during the September 15-30 period; the regular forecast is usually lower than actuals as it doesn't include all cargoes.

The ministry issues the estimates twice a month.
