DSM Nutritional Products announced that Hy-D has been authorised for use in pig feed in the EU.

 

Approval was granted after intensive work by DSM scientists and regulatory experts, and a positive safety assessment by the European Food Safety Authority.

 

The product has long been globally approved and used for poultry, said DSM.

 

Hy-D as 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 is one step ahead in the metabolism of vitamin D3. It bypasses the critical first step of hydroxylation in the liver and reaches the blood stream quickly and efficiently.

 

Several trial results have shown that with Hy-D blood levels of 25- hydroxyvitamin D3 in swine were increased and served as a readily available substrate for fulfilling the needs of today's high producing swine.

 

Research findings also suggest that Hy-D supplementation in breeding swine has a potential to contribute significantly to lifetime performance as well as to the well being of the animal.
