China keeps 10 major grains, cotton import tariff quotas unchanged
China's economic planner Wednesday (October 14) said it has kept unchanged its tariff-rate import quotas for major grains and cotton in 2010.
The quotas for corn, wheat and rice are 7.2 million tonnes, 9.64 million tonnes and 5.32 million tonnes respectively, the National Development and Reform Commission said.
The quota for cotton is 894,000 tonnes, it said.
Imports up to the quota amount are charged a low tariff rate, but the rate rises sharply once the quotas are exceeded.
