Abundant supply of Pakistani wheat rots in the open

 
 

Wheat worth millions of rupees is rotting under the open sky due to lack of proper arrangements, said Pakistan Flour Mills Association (PFMA) Chairman in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Haji Sartaj Ali Khan.

 

The chairman PFMA further said that in the upcoming season, production of another bumper crop is expected in the country and called for making arrangements of godowns for their preservation to prevent huge loss to the national exchequer.

 

Haji Sartaj Ali Khan said that according to an estimate the government would have a stock of five million tonnes of wheat until the arrival of the upcoming crop, whose preservation is must saying that failure in making proper arrangements would inflict millions of rupees loss to the government.

 

The chairman added that according to the prevailing situation rice and cotton cultivated areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Sindh have been washed away in floods and now the cultivation of only wheat is possible. Therefore, the production of bumper wheat crop is expected in the country.
