GrainCorp changes mind on GM rapeseed silo decision

GrainCorp has changed its mind on the use of a silo, north of Bendigo, for genetically modified (GM) rapeseed this season.

The Raywood silo will now take only conventional grain, with producers in the area happy that it will now save them delivering their grain to sites further away.

Bendigo mayor David Jones welcomes the decision, as he was against the production of GM foods in the region.

This probably indicates that the GM crop has not been as successful under these drought conditions, according to Jones.
