Biosprint gets EU authorisation for sows
Live yeast product Biosprint has been approved by the European Commission for use in sow diets.
Feed trials showed that the product increases the farrowing weight of the piglets.
All trials showed an increased of 800 grammes in the farrowed piglets at day 28. The number of piglets was also significantly higher. Mortality rate in all trials was lower in the supplemented group compared to the trial group.
Biosprint is a specific strain of live yeast registered by the Italian company Prosol S.p.A. and the product is marketed by Scotmin Nutrition Limited within the UK, Ireland, and a number of other countries.
