Kazakhstan exports 7,880 tonnes grain to China

Since the beginning of the year, Kazakhstan State Grain Company Food Corporation has exported 7,880 tonnes of grain to China.

"Our (Food Corporation) supplies to China amounted to 7,880 tonnes of grain. It is a small volume," Managing Director of JSC NC Food Corporation Marat Seisenov said at a joint meeting of JSC NC Food Corporation JSC and KazakstanTemirTrans on Wednesday (Oct 10).

He noted that the low supply of Kazakh grain to neighbouring China is caused by severe pest control services of China. At the same time, the Chinese market is very profitable for Kazakh grain producers, as its capacity is about 20 million tonnes of grain a year.

In addition, Kazakhstan has plans to transport grain by transit through China to South-East Asia. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture, 14.3 million tonnes grain have been harvested from 98.9% of the area harvested.

The Regional Department of Agriculture said that agricultural producers harvested 15,229,100 hectares on October 8, which is 98.9% of the harvested area, the average yield amounted to 9.4 tonnes per hectare.

Last year, Kazakhstan harvested a record 26 million tonnes of grain. Low harvest this season is due to the drought, which was observed in the summer in main grain regions. The outlook for the harvest this year is 14 million tonnes.
